Raynevstheworld

It’s rare to find an artist with natural stage presence. Someone who can capture the crowd’s attention and keep it, but Rayne does it effortlessly. We had our first encounter with him at an intimate backyard show. His energy was magnetic, being able to draw everyone from their seats to be a little bit closer to the stage. A few months later we sat down with him – bouncing through topics of a re-discovered love of music, his most recent live show, and a potential new EP.

Collectively known as Raynevstheworld, frontman Rayne found himself on stage early on, singing with his school choir groups from elementary until his freshman year of high school. After some disparaging feedback from a teacher, Rayne did what any scorned child would, he moved on from music and began playing sports. It wasn’t until his move back to Florida in 2018 that he had a thought about picking up his first talent again. Transitioning into new spaces can be difficult. Making new friends, finding a community, or space where you feel comfortable are things that we crave as humans for everyday connection. Rayne spent his alone time reconnecting with music instead. Teaching himself how to play instruments like the drums and guitar and using that time to really tap into the art of creating music. “I didn’t know anyone. I didn’t know who to connect with, so I was really in my mind a lot. I know reading helped open my mind and really understand where I was in the current moment.” Eventually the two began to merge – his music and newfound life in Florida. Rayne acknowledges his friend Cosmo as his steppingstone into Miami’s creative scene, taking him to shows and introducing him to like-minded individuals. “Everyone is like-minded in these small spaces. That core group of friends I have now are like my saving grace.” Finding support from other creatives confirmed that this was a burning passion he was sure of pursuing.

Rayne now finds inspiration through his life – being around friends, family, going through different experiences. The artist revealed that he’s currently working on an EP titled, “I Feel As If We Might Be Vanishing.”  Deeming it one of his best and most personal pieces of work, listeners get a more vulnerable side of Rayne that isn’t usually revealed. The inspiration came from a conversation with himself where he realized he felt as though he was vanishing from his own reality. Throughout the EP, you find the artist coming to terms with this feeling and asking himself what he’s doing to fix it. Relationships, mental battles, and trauma are tied within the sentiment of falling out of touch with himself, but eventually finding his way back.

In October, Raynevstheworld had the opportunity to perform as a band at III Points Festival, deeming it their coolest show to date. That experience set a precedence for what Rayne would like their upcoming year to look like. More shows and the ability to connect - with other artists, with their listeners through music, and with their community.

Whatever captures your mind, whatever captures your heart, whether it’s the lyrics or the meaning or the instrumentation, whatever it is don’t be afraid to tap in. And that’s what we’ll be doing – tapping in and following the journey that comes with Raynevstheworld.
